Delta State attracts international investors at economic summit
During the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba, Nigeria, international delegations from Brazil, Malaysia, and the United States conducted inspection tours of industrial and agricultural facilities. Investors explored opportunities in energy, manufacturing, and agriculture, including the Kwale Special Economic Zone, Kwale Gas Gathering Hub, and various farming enterprises.
Brazilian representatives expressed interest in natural gas-powered electricity generation and cassava processing, offering to provide technical expertise in livestock and beef production. Additionally, Malaysian officials identified oil palm cultivation as a primary area for potential commercial plantation partnerships.
Vice President Kashim Shettima endorsed the state's economic potential, citing federal reforms as a driver for investor confidence. To support these efforts, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced the establishment of a $100 million Viability Gap Fund designed to de-risk strategic private sector investments in the state.
