Delta State Governor lifts suspension of Works Commissioner

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has lifted the indefinite suspension of Reuben Izeze, the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads). The governor directed Izeze to resume his duties once 10 weeks have passed from his original suspension date.

Izeze was suspended on August 10 following allegations involving an assault on the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Simon Mudi. Prior to the suspension, Izeze had been arraigned at a Delta State High Court and remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Okere, Warri.

During a swearing-in ceremony in Asaba, Oborevwori stated that Izeze had reached out to seek forgiveness and expressed a willingness to face the public regarding the incident. The governor noted that while Izeze’s plea influenced the decision, public officials must maintain discipline and adhere to the law.
