Delta State Governor signs five new bills into law
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has signed five bills into law in Asaba, aimed at reforming state administration and improving public welfare. A central component of these reforms is the Thirteenth Month Salary Law, 2026, designed to boost worker morale, productivity, and family wellbeing for eligible public servants.
Other legislative changes include amendments to the judiciary, increasing the number of High Court judges from 46 to 50 and Customary Court of Appeal judges from nine to 12 to enhance justice delivery. Additionally, the Public and Private Properties Protection Amendment Law was signed to safeguard assets against unlawful occupation and destruction.
To promote economic development and investment, the governor also enacted the Delta State Revenue Service (Consolidated) Law, 2026. This law seeks to harmonize tax administration and curb multiple taxation across the state.
