Delta State Governor urges enhanced security to protect regional economy

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has called for strengthened security operations across the Niger Delta to protect economic interests. During a meeting with Major General Everest Okoro, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Oborevwori emphasized that regional peace is an economic necessity, particularly given Delta State's role as a major oil-producing region.

The Governor noted that economic growth is directly tied to the safety of lives, businesses, and critical assets. He expressed his administration's commitment to supporting the military through infrastructure and logistics, citing recent projects such as the construction of housing at the Amphibious Army Barracks in Agbor and support provided to the 63 Brigade. Oborevwori urged a proactive security approach to ensure continued stability and prosperity in the region.
