Delta State House of Assembly passes 13th-month salary bill
The Delta State House of Assembly has passed an executive bill to provide statutory backing for the payment of a 13th-month salary to public servants in the state. The legislation aims to institutionalize the annual additional payment, providing workers with greater financial certainty.
During the plenary session, presided over by Speaker Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, the Assembly suspended certain standing orders to fast-track the bill through its third reading. The motion to suspend these orders was moved by the Leader of the House, Emeka Nwaobi.
Speaker Guwor characterized the move as a major milestone for workers' welfare and a reflection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to a worker-friendly administration. The Assembly expects the policy to boost morale, increase productivity, and improve service delivery across the state.
