Delta State Police arrest suspect and recover 21 bags of Indian hemp
The Delta State Police Command arrested 56-year-old Lucky Oyiboka following an intelligence-led raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Owa-Abbi, Ukwani Local Government Area. The operation was conducted on August 8, 2026, by the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).
During the search of the premises, officers recovered 21 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect was involved in the distribution of illicit drugs.
Police Commissioner Yemi Oyeniyi stated that the command remains committed to intelligence-led policing to dismantle criminal networks and curb drug proliferation in the state. Investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals potentially connected to the network. The suspect remains in custody and will face court proceedings once investigations conclude.
