Delta State Police Convict 16 Men for Theft, Vandalism and Drug Offences
The Delta State Police Command announced that a Magistrates’ Court in Asaba sentenced sixteen men to three‑year prison terms on 15 July 2026. The defendants were found guilty of criminal conspiracy to steal iron rods belonging to the Delta State Government, wilful malicious damage to public property, and unlawful possession of twenty cups of the prohibited substance known as Colorado (Kolos). The convictions were handed down at the Ogwashi‑Uku Correctional Centre. Police spokesperson Bright Edafe said the verdict demonstrates the command’s commitment to protecting critical infrastructure, while State Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi said it sends a clear message that vandalism and drug‑related offences will be met with the full weight of the law.
