Delyan Peevski challenges allegations over flight expenses
Bulgarian political leader Delyan Peevski, head of the DPS, has challenged allegations that the company ‘Spectrum’ paid for his flights. Peevski has demanded the public release of invoices to verify the claims, stating that all his travel expenses were paid for by himself and his family through ‘absolutely legitimate activity’.
The controversy arose following statements by Prime Minister Rumen Radev, who claimed that intelligence services in Malta sent 36 invoices totaling 5 million euros. Radev alleged these documents detail 36 flights linked to Peevski and suggest that funds from public procurement contracts for capes were diverted to a ‘piggy bank’ company to fund the flights.
Peevski has issued an ultimatum: if the 36 invoices exist, he will resign as leader of the DPS. Conversely, he has called for Prime Minister Radev to resign or for Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev to be dismissed if the documents cannot be produced, accusing the government of spreading falsehoods.
