DEM Party leaders meet with Alevi representatives in Ankara
Political and civil society leaders in Turkey are engaging in various solidarity and organizational efforts. In Ankara, DEM Party co-chairs Tülay Hamitoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan met with representatives of Alevi institutions. During the meeting, Bakırhan emphasized that the peace process is a matter for all 86 million citizens of Turkey, not just the Kurdish population, stating, “We are candidates to govern this country, we are aspirants to govern this country.” He linked Alevi equality to broader democratic transformation and national stability.
In Van, the Democratic Alevi Associations (DAD) opened a new branch. Local leaders expressed the need for the organization to preserve Alevi culture and fight for equal citizenship and democratic rights.
Additionally, in Hakkari, the KESK Branches Platform organized a solidarity meal involving public workers, political parties, and NGOs. Participants discussed labor, democracy, peace, and education policies, emphasizing the importance of collective action among public service workers.
