DEM Party spokesperson calls for clarity on peace process
Ayşegül Doğan, spokesperson for the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), has raised concerns regarding the lack of concrete steps in the Peace and Democratic Society Process. During a press conference following a Central Executive Board meeting, Doğan questioned when the Peace and Politicization Board would begin its work, noting that uncertainties regarding the framework law for opening the democratic political sphere remain unresolved.
Doğan addressed several critical issues, including human rights violations in prisons and press freedom. She specifically highlighted the impact of a recent fund investigation, characterizing it as a large-scale corruption issue that has affected the savings of over 455,000 citizens.
Regarding the political process, Doğan referenced the call made by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli toward Abdullah Öcalan. She noted that while messages have been shared following family visits, there has been no comprehensive change in Öcalan’s conditions. Doğan emphasized that for the process to progress, reciprocal steps must be taken and the current delays must be addressed to prevent new problems from arising.
