Demae-can launches autonomous robot food delivery test in Shibuya

Demae-can, Shibuya Startups, Keio SC Creation, and Neubility have launched a food delivery demonstration project in the Sasazuka area of Shibuya, Tokyo. This initiative marks Demae-can’s first full-scale demonstration of autonomous robot delivery within Tokyo.

The project utilizes ‘Neubie’, an autonomous driving robot developed by the physical AI startup Neubility. The demonstration is scheduled to run from August 24, 2026, through September 30, 2026. Participating merchants include Curry Shop C&C Sasazuka and Doutor Coffee Shop Frente Sasazuka, with delivery services intended to reach residents within a radius of up to approximately 1km.

The collaboration aims to test the operational feasibility of autonomous robots in dense urban environments, focusing on safety, coexistence with pedestrians, and integration with local commercial facilities. The project is part of Shibuya City’s ‘Testbed City’ startup demonstration program.
