Demerara Distillers Limited breaks ground on $10M St. Kitts expansion

Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) has broken ground on a US$10 million facility expansion and redevelopment project at Bird Rock, St. Kitts. The project is being executed through its subsidiary, Demerara Distillers (St. Kitts and Nevis) Limited.

The new multi-purpose complex aims to increase operational footprint by expanding bottling, packaging, and warehousing capacity. The facility is intended to serve as a distribution hub for St. Kitts and Nevis and surrounding Eastern Caribbean markets. Additionally, the development will include retail spaces and an interactive Heritage Centre to showcase the history of rum in the Federation.

St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew participated in the ceremony, noting that the investment supports economic diversification and regional integration within CARICOM. DDL Executive Chairman Komal Samaroo emphasized the company's long-term commitment to the region and sustainable economic integration.
