Demerara Distillers Limited reports $2.3B profit for H1 2026

Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) reported an after-tax profit of $2.284 billion for the first half of 2026, up from $2.202 billion during the same period in 2025. The company's turnover rose by 16.3 percent to $16.968 billion.

Chairman Komal Samaroo noted that while profit margins were pressured by rising energy, logistics, and input costs, the domestic market saw a 19.2 percent increase in turnover. This growth was supported by Guyana's expanding oil and gas sector.

In contrast, international markets faced challenges. Samaroo reported that spirits sales declined in North America and Europe, particularly in premium segments, due to high inflation and geopolitical uncertainties stemming from conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.
