Demi Vollering wins 2026 Giro d’Italia Women
Dutch rider Demi Vollering secured the overall victory at the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women, overturning a nine‑second deficit on the final stage into Saluzzo to claim the maglia rosa for FDJ United‑Suez. She clinched the win after decisive attacks on the Colle delle Finestre and a strong finish in the Dolomites, out‑sprinting rival Anna van der Breggen, who finished second, while Antonia Niedermaier took third place.
The victory makes Vollering only the second woman, alongside Annemiek van Vleuten, to have won all three women's Grand Tours. The race also highlighted emerging talents such as Isabella Holmgren and confirmed the form of sprinter Elisa Balsamo. Organisers and teams noted that the Giro reshaped the balance of the women’s WorldTour season, setting a more open picture for the remaining stage‑races of 2026.
