Brazilian martial arts icon Demian Maia is releasing a biography titled ‘Maia-Leão: Disciplina, Coragem e Reinvenção’. Published by Editora Alamiré and co-authored with Mauro Albano, the book chronicles over three decades of his career in jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts (MMA).
The book covers Maia’s life from childhood, including his early training in kung-fu at age 12, through his rise as a world champion in jiu-jitsu and the ADCC. It provides behind-the-scenes insights into his professional journey, including his 2010 UFC middleweight title fight against Anderson Silva, which he describes as a pivotal moment for learning about pressure and resilience.
The official launch event is scheduled for August 22 at the Demian Maia School in the Vila Leopoldina neighborhood of São Paulo.
