Demir family warns of fraud using names of shipwreck victims

The family of Mustafa Demir and Mahmut Demir, two brothers missing after a ship sank while traveling from Kyrenia to Mersin, has issued a warning regarding fraudulent activities.

In the Reyhanlı district of Hatay, the family reported that unidentified individuals are using the brothers' names to solicit donations. These scammers are allegedly sharing IBAN numbers and claiming the family is in desperate need of financial assistance.

Halil Demir, the brothers' older sibling, urged the public not to fall victim to these scams, stating, “We do not need anyone's money; thankfully, our state is with us.” He emphasized that the family is receiving support from relatives and the community and requested that authorities identify those responsible for exploiting the tragedy.
