Democracy for the Citizens Party accuses Ruto of corruption

Leaders of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) have launched a series of sharp criticisms against President William Ruto and his administration, alleging widespread corruption and economic mismanagement.

Rigathi Gachagua, a leader within the DCP, accused President Ruto of capturing state institutions and centralizing control over public procurement and strategic assets to enrich himself. Gachagua claimed that the administration is responsible for significant financial leaks, alleging that the government steals an average of Ksh. 125 million per hour. He further asserted that Ruto has become a US dollar billionaire through the looting of public coffers.

In a separate statement, DCP Secretary General designate Senator John Methu dismissed economic arguments made by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi. Methu criticized Mbadi for using soda consumption as a metric for economic stability, stating that ‘Kenyans don’t eat speeches; they want money in their pockets.’ Methu demanded tangible economic indicators, such as increased savings, higher business profits, and job creation for youth, rather than rhetorical claims of growth.
