Democracy & Human Rights Jury discusses creative advocacy at LIA 2026

During a panel at LIA 2026 in Las Vegas, members of the inaugural Democracy & Human Rights Jury discussed how creative advocacy can drive systemic change and influence government policy.

Key contributors highlighted various global impacts of storytelling and campaigns. Diane Foley discussed how the story of her son, journalist James Foley, contributed to the creation of a U.S. Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs. Rob Galluzzo detailed the ‘36 Months’ campaign, which influenced social media age legislation in Australia and California. Additionally, the panel noted how Edelman’s ‘The Unburied Casket’ campaign prompted the South African government to classify gender-based violence and femicide as a national crisis.
