Democrat Party exposes 5 billion baht local exam corruption scheme

The Democrat Party has exposed a systematic corruption scheme involving local government recruitment exams, with estimated fraudulent transactions ranging between 4,500 and 5,000 million baht.

Democrat Party spokesperson Pongsakorn Kwanmuang detailed a four-layer corruption structure: first, applicants paying to alter scores; second, brokers facilitating the transactions; third, civil servants and exam supervisors performing the score manipulation; and fourth, high-level executives and politicians who oversee the entire operation.

The party is calling on the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to provide witness protection for informants. They emphasized the need to prosecute high-ranking officials rather than just low-level participants, noting that the Ministry of Interior holds authority over the appointment of the local exam committee.
