Democratic Attorneys General coordinate legal plans for midterm elections

More than 20 Democratic attorneys general are executing a coordinated, year-long legal strategy to protect the upcoming midterm elections from potential federal interference and administrative disruptions.

Led by officials such as Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser and California Attorney General Rob Bonta, the coalition has engaged in legal war-gaming, historical research, and the drafting of emergency lawsuits. These preparations are designed to allow for the immediate filing of temporary restraining orders and injunctions should voting operations, ballot access, or tabulation face challenges.

In addition to courtroom readiness, the effort includes grassroots mobilization. State Democratic parties and civil society groups are working to recruit thousands of volunteers to provide oversight at polling places and address potential issues such as polling place intimidation or disruptions to mail-in voting.
