Democratic Bulgaria calls for Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov’s resignation
The opposition coalition Democratic Bulgaria (DB) submitted a parliamentary declaration demanding the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov. The declaration, read by DB’s parliamentary group leader Nadежда Йорданова at the close of the parliamentary session, criticised the government for a lack of substantive reforms and accused it of governing through the deputy prime minister’s televised appearances rather than a clear policy programme.
DB also urged a different handling of the large number of reform‑oriented, cross‑party bills awaiting parliamentary consideration, outlining proposals for a more modern and economical state, tighter control of public enterprises, limits on bonuses and privileges, reviews of risky TELK decisions and the sale of unnecessary state‑owned assets. The coalition described the cabinet’s internal and foreign policies as contradictory and lacking clear strategic direction, especially toward EU partners, the United States and Russia.
