Democratic League of Kosovo faces internal calls for leader Abdixhiku’s resignation

Agim Veliu, a member of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), said the demands for party chairman Lumir Abdixhiku to step down are legitimate and justified. Veliu criticised Abdixhiku’s leadership, arguing that under his direction the party has remained "stuck in third place" and failed to become a serious alternative for power despite previous electoral cycles. He highlighted the chairman’s arrogant response to criticism from local party leaders in Lipjan, Pejë and a capital district, noting that Abdixhiku sought the resignation of two long‑time municipal leaders instead of taking responsibility for the party’s central results. Veliu warned that Abdixhiku’s refusal to account for electoral failures undermines internal democracy and hampers reforms within the LDK.
