Democratic Party criticizes Fratelli d'Italia over Covid Commission hearing

The Democratic Party (Pd) has issued a joint statement condemning the Fratelli d'Italia (FdI) party for what they describe as a “misleading reconstruction” of former minister Roberto Speranza’s testimony during a Covid Commission hearing.

Pd deputies accused the governing majority of attempting to turn the commission into a “political tribunal” and accused certain commissioners of using the platform to promote “no-vax theories.” The party maintained that Speranza provided a coherent account of the Italian government’s decisions during the pandemic, emphasizing that actions taken during that period must be evaluated based on the facts and the context of the crisis rather than through political revisionism.
