Democratic Party demands implementation of Constitutional Court ruling

The Democratic Party (PD) parliamentary group has issued an official letter to the Speaker of the Parliament, Niko Peleshi, demanding the implementation of a Constitutional Court decision. The ruling requires the establishment of an investigative commission to look into allegations regarding the use of state resources and organized crime during the elections held on May 11, 2025.

Gazment Bardhi, head of the PD parliamentary group, stated that the decision, published in the Official Gazette on July 22, 2026, has been in effect since that date. The opposition argues that under parliamentary regulations, the matter should have been reviewed by the Legislative Council within 30 days.

The PD accuses the Speaker of inaction and claims that the delay violates Article 132 of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania, thereby undermining the rights of the parliamentary minority and the rule of law.
