The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has distributed funds from the Fondo investimenti stradali nei piccoli Comuni to improve road safety and maintenance in dozens of small Italian municipalities. Regional allocations include:

• Calabria: €2.956 million for 20 communes such as Torre di Ruggiero, Stalettì and Riace. Subsecretary Wanda Ferro called the result “important”. • Campania: €3.260 million for 23 communes including Sassano, Cuccaro Vetere and Castelnuovo Cilento. Deputy Imma Vietri highlighted the support for internal areas. • Abruzzo: more than €2 million for 15 communes, e.g., Prezza, Villa Santa Maria and Rosciano, announced by Lega regional coordinator Vincenzo D'Incecco. • Liguria: €1.116 million for nine communes such as Rovegno and Mendatica. • Lombardy: €150 000 for Robecchetto con Induno to refurbish the De Gasperi‑Milite Ignoto intersection. • Tuscany (Arezzo province): €462 000 for Pieve Santo Stefano, Montemignaio and Monterchi.

In addition, the MIT announced a national tranche of €40 million to finance 292 new interventions, bringing total funding for the programme to over €92 million since 2023. Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini expressed satisfaction, noting that “road safety is a virtuous path that must continue despite rising material costs”. The funds aim to secure local road networks, reduce isolation of small towns and support regional development.

All projects are limited to municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants and provide up to €150 000 per commune for works such as road resurfacing, safety barriers and drainage improvements.
