Democratic Party faces internal strategic and organizational debates in Italy
Members of the Democratic Party (PD) in different Italian regions are addressing internal organizational and strategic challenges.
In Pistoia, local leaders from Ponte Buggianese are calling for the provincial congress to be convened by November to ensure democratic functioning and adherence to party rules. This follows the approval of a document reflecting on the political and organizational prospects of the center-left in the territory, which has faced resistance from the provincial leadership.
In the Latina province, specifically regarding the Gulf area, party leaders are advocating for broader progressive coalitions ahead of the 2027 municipal elections in Formia, Gaeta, and Minturno. Figures such as Gerardo Stefanelli, Sandro Bartolomeo, and Claudio Moscardelli have urged the provincial secretary to expand political alliances to increase competitiveness against the center-right.
