Democratic Party hosts 10K run in Manokwari

Thousands of people, including Democratic Party members and local residents, participated in a 10-kilometer run held at GOR Sanggeng in Manokwari, West Papua, on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Organized by the West Papua Democratic Party Regional Leadership Council (DPD), the event served as a celebration for the party’s 25th anniversary and the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

Freddy Thie, Chairman of the West Papua DPD, stated that the event was designed to foster community togetherness and public participation under the theme ‘Advancing the Economy, Upholding Justice, and Maintaining Democracy.’ The initiative also aimed to identify athletic talent among the youth. The competition offered a total of 50 million IDR in development funds for top finishers, along with various door prizes.

Manokwari Regent Hermus Indou attended the event and expressed support for community activities that strengthen local collaboration and regional development.
