Han Byeong-do, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced plans to hold a plenary session on August 20 to address urgent legislative matters. Key priorities include an amendment to the National Assembly Act to shorten the fast-track process from 330 days to 90 days, and several bills aimed at supporting housing supply, such as the Urban Improvement Act and the Public Housing Act.
In addition to legislative goals, Han expressed condolences regarding a fatal landslide caused by heavy rain in Geoje, where one resident lost their life. He pledged that the Democratic Party would cooperate with the government to ensure that personnel, equipment, and administrative support are deployed promptly to the affected areas, while also working on legislation for disaster prevention and recovery.
The upcoming session is also expected to include procedures for appointing a special inspector and addressing 113 pending bills, including the 5·18 Democratization Movement Merit Holders Act and the National Basic Living Security Act.
