Democratic Party leaders address Sicilian politics and Gaza flotilla in Messina

During the Festa dell'Unità in Messina, Democratic Party (PD) deputy Peppe Provenzano criticized the Sicilian regional government, comparing the current political climate to the 1950s and alleging a system of patronage. Provenzano specifically targeted President Schifani and questioned the transparency of projects like the Strait of Messina Bridge, while also citing corruption issues regarding hydrogeological risk funds.

At the same event, deputy Arturo Scotto presented his book, ‘Flotilla – In viaggio per Gaza’. The book details his personal experience participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission that attempted to break the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip. Scotto recounts the challenges faced during the voyage, including encounters with the Israeli military and his subsequent detention.
