Democratic Party of Cosenza faces internal leadership dispute

The provincial branch of Italy's Democratic Party in Cosenza is embroiled in a leadership conflict. Francesco De Luca, who is vying for the party secretary position, argues that a majority of 35 out of 62 votes is not sufficient, even though the previous secretary, Lettieri, was elected with 32 votes. The party's coordination committee, while remaining available to the Democratic Party, has voiced strong doubts about the process and accuses national figures of shaping a narrative that led to the party's commissioner appointment.

De Luca's group says they have proposed concrete solutions, offered to step aside for a more authoritative candidate, and participated in all possible dialogue tables, but no consensus was reached. They criticize the handling of the dispute and call for serious reflection on the party's internal governance.
