Democratic Party of Kosovo marks 27th anniversary
The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) marks its 27th anniversary of founding. Established on October 10, 1999, the party has been a major political force in Kosovo, participating in government since the 2001 parliamentary elections.
Since its inception, the PDK has been led by several prominent figures, including its first leader Hashim Thaçi, followed by Kadri Veseli, Enver Hoxhaj, and Memli Krasniqi. The party is currently led by Bedri Hamza, who was elected on November 17, 2025. In the most recent parliamentary elections on December 28, 2025, the PDK secured 20.19 percent of the vote, resulting in 22 seats in the Assembly.
Former deputy Besa Ismaili-Ahmeti commemorated the anniversary by highlighting the party's role in Kosovo's liberation, independence, and state-building. She emphasized the importance of protecting the truth regarding the liberation war against efforts to alter historical narratives.
