Democratic Party to discuss tax and real estate policies
The Democratic Party of Korea is preparing to hold a general meeting on August 13 to discuss the government’s recent tax reform proposals and real estate supply measures. The party’s Housing Market Stabilization Task Force will also meet to coordinate responses to current real estate policies.
Han Byeong-do, acting leader and floor leader of the Democratic Party, has urged the People Power Party to cooperate in holding a National Assembly plenary session on August 13. He emphasized that several bills critical to housing stability—including those regarding public redevelopment, relaxation of floor area ratios for reconstruction, and the special act on complex development of unused school sites—are currently stalled.
Party officials noted that increasing the supply of rental housing is essential to alleviate anxiety among tenants, particularly following the decline in private non-apartment supply. Additionally, the party is moving forward with the recommendation process for special inspectors, with a vote on candidates expected to take place during next week’s plenary session.
