Democratic Republic of Congo's IGF to adopt digital systemic control by 2027
The Democratic Republic of Congo’s Inspection Générale des Finances (IGF) announced that it will begin rolling out a digital, systemic control system for public finances in the second half of 2027, with full maturity expected by 2028. The plan was presented by IGF chief inspector Christophe Bitasimwa Bahii at a press briefing alongside government spokesperson and Minister of Communication Patrick Muyaya.
The new approach combines a‑priori, a‑posteriori and concurrent controls, replaces the earlier “financial patrol” method, and relies on real‑time data integration across customs, tax, budget and banking platforms. Digital infrastructure is slated to be operational by the first quarter of 2027, and entities under IGF supervision are urged to digitize their own processes to facilitate remote monitoring.
