Democratic Republic of the Congo commodity prices show mixed trends
According to a weekly report from the Ministry of Foreign Trade for the period of October 19 to 24, 2026, export prices for various products in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have fluctuated. Copper prices rose from $14,425.60 to $14,705.35 per tonne, while cobalt increased from $38,507 to $38,596 per tonne. Cocoa also saw an uptick, rising from $5.47 to $5.54 per kilogram.
Conversely, several mining products experienced declines. Nickel prices dropped from $13,940.01 to $13,649.39 per tonne, and tin concentrate also recorded a decrease. Various lithium-derived products and germanium also saw downward trends.
In the Maniema province, specifically in Kindu, local markets are facing rising food costs. Prices for staples such as rice and cassava have increased over a two-week period. Vendors attribute the scarcity and rising costs of cassava and maize to the current sowing season, as producers focus on field work, reducing the immediate supply available in markets.
