Democratic Republic of the Congo honors 13 companies with Model Employer Awards

The Democratic Republic of the Congo's Ministry of Employment and Labor hosted the inaugural National Model Employer Awards in Kinshasa on October 21, 2026. The initiative aims to promote labor standard compliance and encourage social responsibility within the private sector.

Thirteen companies were selected from over sixty candidates based on inspections from the General Labor Inspectorate and ministerial field visits. Award recipients include Rawbank, Airtel RDC, MMG Kinsevere, Tenke Fungurume Mining, Kipushi Corporation, Plantations et Huileries du Congo (PHC), Matadi Gateway Terminal, Société Minière du Katanga, Frontier SA, Katamba Mining, Expatman SARLU, New Kivu Plaza, and Nyumba Ya Akiba SA.

Plantations et Huileries du Congo (PHC), the country's leading palm oil producer, was specifically recognized for its efforts in formalizing employment and improving working conditions. Under Congolese leadership and with support from Kuramo Capital Management, PHC has expanded its direct contract workforce from 6,500 to 12,000 employees.
