Democratic Republic of the Congo launches peace governance project

Vice-Prime Minister Jacquemain Shabani has officially launched the ‘Vision and Governance for Peace’ (VGP) project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Supported by $1.1 million from the United Nations, the initiative aims to strengthen conflict prevention and peace consolidation.

The project focuses on validating a multi-year work plan for 2026-2028, mapping instability hotspots, and enhancing inter-ministerial coordination. It also seeks to involve public institutions, local authorities, women, and youth in peace-building mechanisms. The pilot phase will be implemented in the provinces of Kinshasa, Ituri, Mai-Ndombe, and Kasaï.
