Democratic Republic of the Congo opposition faces legal complaints
Political tensions are rising in the Democratic Republic of the Congo following activities by the C64 opposition coalition. Clément Tshietshiam Muntu’abu has filed a legal complaint against prominent opposition leaders, including Martin Fayulu, Delly Sesanga, Jean-Marc Kabund, Moïse Katumbi, and Matata Ponyo. The complaint, submitted to the prosecutor general in Kinshasa, alleges attempts to overthrow the constitutional regime and violations of the Constitution, specifically citing the September 15 march against constitutional changes.
In a separate reaction to the C64 march, Stéphane Muadi Van, president of the Mouvement Réformateur Congolais (MRC), criticized the opposition's approach. He argued that frequent marches and calls for dialogue while President Félix Tshisekedi is serving his mandate contribute to permanent political tension rather than solving national issues. Muadi Van urged opposition figures to focus on preparing concrete political alternatives regarding security, employment, and governance rather than provoking confrontation.
