Democratic Republic of the Congo political leaders call for state reconfiguration

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, political figures and commentators are calling for significant shifts in governance and state structure to address security and development challenges.

Journalist Thierry Kasongo Muyumba has issued an open letter to President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, urging the formation of a "combat government" composed of patriotic technocrats rather than political balancing acts. Muyumba proposes strengthening military capabilities and mobilizing national forces to counter existential threats. He also suggested a presidential pardon for Constant Mutamba and recommended pausing political dialogue until state security is stabilized.

In the Lualaba province, Michael Tshibwid is advocating for more inclusive governance centered on the needs of the local population. He argues that the province's mineral wealth should more effectively improve the daily lives of its citizens. Tshibwid emphasizes that leadership should prioritize merit and competence over political loyalty to ensure that provincial development meets social expectations.
