Security operations and crime incidents reported across Congo
Security forces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have conducted several operations to combat rising crime and illegal structures. In Mont-Ngafula, authorities carried out nighttime raids in the Kimbwala and CPA-Mushi neighborhoods, seizing firearms and arresting several suspects suspected of involvement in urban banditry and violent robberies.
In Lubumbashi, security operations resulted in the arrest of 109 individuals and the seizure of weapons. Meanwhile, in the Fizi territory, the local security council announced the removal of over 20 illegal checkpoints and 15 unauthorized detention cells along the Misisi axis. These checkpoints, often operated by self-defense groups, had been increasing transport costs and hindering the movement of goods.
In the Kongo-Central province, a merchant was shot and killed while sleeping in his shop in Muanda. Local civil society leaders have criticized the lack of police resources and equipment, calling for a thorough investigation into the murder.
