Democrats expand target list, adding 12 GOP-held districts for 2026 House races

With 90 days left before the 2026 midterm elections, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) announced the addition of 12 Republican‑held districts to its "Districts in Play" roster, bringing the total number of GOP seats the party aims to flip to 58. The new targets include Colorado’s 3rd District held by Rep. Lauren Boebert, North Carolina’s 8th District of NRCC chair Rep. Richard Hudson, Arkansas’s 2nd District of Rep. French Hill, and Indiana’s 5th District of Rep. Victoria Spartz. DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene said the expanded list reflects a favorable political environment and a "winning message" focused on affordable America.

In Virginia, former White House National Security Council official Douglas Ollivant is projected to win the Republican primary for the 7th Congressional District. He will face Democratic incumbent Rep. Eugene Vindman in November. The district, a battleground that voted Democratic in the last two cycles, has a median household income of $113,690 and is seeing a competitive race on cost‑of‑living and ethics issues.
