Democrats hold fundraising lead in key US states ahead of midterms
Democratic candidates and political action committees (PACs) have secured a significant financial advantage over Republicans in several critical battleground states, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) data for the third quarter.
In six states vital to Senate control—Ohio, Maine, Michigan, Iowa, Texas, and Alaska—Democrats raised between three to six times more funds than their Republican opponents between July and September. A notable gap was observed in Texas, where Democrat James Talarico raised $64 million compared to $10.2 million for Republican Ken Paxton.
In House races, at least 47 incumbent Republicans raised less money than their Democratic challengers, while only six Democratic incumbents faced a similar deficit. Despite this, Elon Musk remains the largest individual donor in the midterm cycle, contributing at least $276 million to support Republican efforts.
