Democratic leaders issued a pre‑emptive response ahead of President Donald Trump's scheduled prime‑time address, accusing him of using the 2020 election controversy to distract voters before the midterm elections. Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff warned that if Trump “declares Georgia’s elections illegitimate, he is declaring Georgia voters illegitimate,” and called the president “the world’s most famous sore loser.”

Republican leaders, including Sens. Thom Tillis and John Cornyn, dismissed the focus on the 2020 vote as unproductive, urging the administration to address other pressing issues such as the war in the Middle East and cost‑of‑living concerns. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt remained tight‑lipped about the speech content, emphasizing only that Trump would discuss “protecting the integrity of our elections.”
