House Democrats prepare 100-day legislative agenda for potential midterm victory

House Democrats are preparing an ambitious legislative agenda to be implemented within the first 100 hours of the new Congress in January, should they secure a majority in next month’s midterm elections.

Led by Hakeem Jeffries, who would become the first Democratic House Speaker since Nancy Pelosi, the party intends to focus on economic affordability and oversight of the Trump administration. Key components of the plan include reinstating Affordable Care Act tax breaks, reversing Republican cuts to Medicaid, undoing President Donald Trump’s tariff regime, and holding votes against the war with Iran.

The agenda aims to address voter concerns regarding inflation and the high cost of living. The party's success will also be measured by its ability to maintain unity and avoid the internal divisions that have characterized Republican leadership under Speaker Mike Johnson.
