Democrats target legislative and congressional seats in Pennsylvania and Connecticut
In Pennsylvania, Democrats are strategizing to gain control of the state legislature during the upcoming fall elections. The state legislature is currently divided, and a Democratic majority could allow the party to advance legislative agendas regarding healthcare, education, and other state policies. Because Pennsylvania is considered a pivotal state, the outcome of these statehouse races is viewed as a potential bellwether for national political trends.
In Connecticut, five congressional races are being closely watched as Democrats seek to expand their influence. In the state’s first district, which includes Hartford, former Mayor Luke Bronin is favored to succeed long-time Congressman John Larson following a Democratic primary. Bronin faces Republican candidate Amy Chai in a district characterized as one of the bluest in the state.
