Germany cycling news: Leipzig path completed and Dortmund protests

Various cycling-related developments and events are taking place across Germany. In Leipzig, the construction of a new bicycle and pedestrian path on Alte Seehausener Straße has been completed following an eleven-month project. The infrastructure improvements, costing approximately 986,000 euros, include a new drinking water pipeline, road surface renovation, and the planting of 18 new trees to improve environmental quality.

In Dortmund, Fridays for Future organized a large bicycle demonstration aimed at demanding better cycling infrastructure, specifically requesting the opening or redesign of the B54 and Wallring. The protest resulted in significant traffic restrictions and the temporary closure of the Wallring to motor vehicles.

Other regional activities include the DemokRADtour, a cycling event traveling through Halle and the Saalekreis to promote democracy, and the Kinzigtal Total street festival in Hessen. Additionally, the ARTOUR cycling event in the Eastern Ore Mountains has extended its partnership with Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden through 2029.
