Istanbul's Kağıthane Sultan Selim Police Station Foundation Laid

A foundation ceremony was held in Kağıthane, Istanbul for the new Sultan Selim neighbourhood police station, which is being rebuilt after the previous building was demolished for earthquake‑risk reasons. The event was attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız, Kağıthane Mayor Mevlüt Öztekin and District Police Chief Kıvanç Taşçı. Governor Gül emphasized that Istanbul aims to be “the safest city in the world” and stressed the importance of reviewing and retrofitting pre‑2000 structures to improve seismic safety. He thanked local officials, officials from the Ministry of Interior and community members for their support. Yıldız highlighted the modern design and infrastructure of the new station, noting its role in enhancing public safety. Öztekin and Taşçı praised the project as a contribution to residents’ security and wellbeing.
