Demolition starts on major Liverpool and Bolton redevelopment sites
In Liverpool, the Home Bargains retail group, through its Davos Property Developments arm, has applied for planning permission to demolish the former Norton Scrap Metal site in the Baltic Triangle. The two‑acre waterfront location is slated for a 26‑week demolition contract that could begin in the second quarter of 2027, clearing the way for a mixed‑use scheme featuring up to three 27‑storey residential towers, a hotel, office space and other facilities.
In Bolton, specialist contractor Rhodar has begun stripping the interior of the former Crompton Place shopping centre as the first phase of its demolition. The work, funded by a £1 million contract, will create a direct pedestrian link between Victoria Square and Bradshawgate and prepare the site for a flagship mixed‑use redevelopment led by MEPC, an arm of Federated Hermes. The new scheme will add homes, workplaces, hospitality and public spaces, aiming to boost investment and community activity in the town centre.
