Den Berk Délice opens greenhouses to public during Day of Agriculture

Den Berk Délice, Belgium’s largest tomato producer, opened its facilities to the public during the ‘Day of Agriculture’ event. The company operates 129 hectares across 11 greenhouses located in Belgium and Morocco, producing approximately 45,670 tons of tomatoes annually for export to 18 countries.

Visitors were granted rare access to locations in Merksplas, Herentals, and Hoogstraten, including technical rooms and sorting centers. Due to the high susceptibility of tomato plants to viruses, strict hygiene protocols, such as hand disinfection, were enforced for all participants.

The event also served as a platform for industry leaders to engage with political figures, including the Flemish Minister of Agriculture and the Governor of Antwerp. During the visit, company management highlighted critical sectoral challenges, specifically regarding land availability, energy costs, and labor shortages.
