Denée Benton to star in Broadway production of ‘School Girls’

School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play Broadway Denée Benton Jocelyn Bioh Ghanaian boarding school

Denée Benton, known for her role in ‘The Gilded Age’, is set to star in the Broadway production of ‘School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play’ at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Written by Jocelyn Bioh, the comedy is based on a group of young girls in a Ghanaian boarding school during the 1980s.

Benton portrays Paulina Sarpong, the dominant figure within the school. She is joined by Tony winner Patina Miller, playing a pageant recruiter named Eloise, and Jasmine Amy Rogers, making her play debut as an American transfer student. The production is directed by Whitney White.
