Dengue case in Sesto Fiorentino prompts disinfestation in Monte Morello

The regional health authority Asl Toscana Centro reported a dengue infection in Sesto Fiorentino, Tuscany, in a resident who had recently returned from abroad. The case was identified in the Monte Morello neighbourhood. In response, the municipal administration launched an extraordinary vector‑control operation, beginning the morning of 3 August 2026. The disinfestation will cover the area between Via di Poggiolino, the borgo of Morello and the Church of Santa Maria a Morello. Residents, condominium managers, commercial operators and producers are asked to grant access to treatment teams, keep doors and windows closed, switch off ventilation systems, keep pets indoors and cover feeding dishes. To avoid insecticide drift onto crops, households are advised to harvest garden fruit and vegetables or protect them with plastic covers before spraying.
